The only Black Friday laptop deals you need in 2024
Refresh
Well, folks, it’s just after midnight here in New York City, and so Black Friday laptop deals are technically over, but don’t fret. Many of the Black Friday deals we’ve been bringing you over the past couple of days are still live and likely will be through the weekend as we head into Cyber Monday.
So if you haven’t had a chance to find a new laptop as we head into December, whether for yourself or as a gift, don’t worry. There’ll be plenty more sales throughout the weekend that you can take advantage of to get the new laptop you want, whether you’re looking for a new Windows laptop, MacBook, Chromebook, gaming laptop, or 2-in-1. Whatever it is, it’s probably on sale somewhere on this page, and we’ll be bringing you more deals as we find them this weekend as we ramp up for Cyber Monday.
In the meantime, though, I will be powering down for the night. Be kind to each other, and we’ll see y’all tomorrow!
While we’re still on MacBooks, here’s another great Black Friday MacBook Air deal from Laptops Direct in the UK.
This 15-inch MacBook Air with M3 chip, 16GB memory, and 256GB SSD in Silver is the perfect way to get Apple’s new Apple Intelligence features on your new laptop without breaking the bank, thanks to a £151 price cut.
Apple MacBook Air 15-inch (M3, 16GB, 256GB, Silver): was £1,298.97 £1,147.97 at Laptops Direct
We’re just under 30 minutes from the official end of Black Friday laptop deals, but don’t fret; many of the laptops on sale right now will remain discounted through the weekend as we barrel towards Cyber Monday, so you still have a chance to save on all kinds of laptops.
And we’ll still be here, bringing you the latest and greatest deals we find as we find them.
Meanwhile, in the UK, Currys isn’t the only retailer keeping its Black Friday laptop deals going, as Laptops Direct has a number of great MacBook models on sale, including this MacBook Air 13-inch with M1 chip, 8GB memory, and a 256GB SSD in Space Gray at a £281 discount.
Normally, I wouldn’t recommend picking up a four year old laptop, but at this price, this makes a fantastic student laptop for those who’ve moved on from the school issued Chromebook and needs something a bit more robust (but not too robust—or expensive for that matter).
Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M1, 8GB, 256GB): was £930.97 now £649.97 at Laptops Direct
Well, enough about Dell for a minute, let’s talk MacBooks.
This MacBook Air 13-inch with M3 chip, 16GB memory, and a 256GB SSD in Space Gray is the minimum you’re going to need if you want to take advantage of the latest Apple Intelligence tools and features as they roll out next year, and right now you can save $250 on this configuration at Best Buy.
Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M3, 16GB, 256GB, Space Gray): was $ 1,099 now $849 at Best Buy
For those in the UK, you won’t want to miss out on the Dell XPS 13 deals either, and thanks to extended Dell Black Friday deals through the weekend, you can still save big on the new XPS 13 laptop with Intel Lunar Lake processor.
There are two deals available right now at Dell’s site. Both come with the new Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chip with Intel Arc Xe2 graphics, a powerful Copilot+ PC-capable NPU, and 32GB LPDDR5x memory, but for £250 off, you can get a 512GB SSD and a 13.4-inch, 1920x1200p display with up to 120Hz refresh rate.
For £480 off, though, you can increase the storage to 1TB and get a much better 2880x1800p OLED touch display running at 60Hz, and the difference in price between these two configurations is close enough that I’m compelled to recommend you pick up the latter configuration.
Dell XPS 13: was £1,679 now £1,479 at Dell
Dell XPS 13: was £2,129 now £1,649 at Dell
When it comes to the best Ultrabooks, there’s no beating the Dell XPS 13, and the latest model with the new Intel Lunar Lake processors is the best the series has ever seen thanks to unparalleled battery life for a Windows laptop.
Intel Lunar Lake chips also come with a whole new core architecture that improves performance without sacrificing efficiency, a powerful Copilot+ PC-capable NPU, and Intel Arc Xe2 graphics that can play many of the latest PC games at moderate settings shockingly well for an integrated GPU.
Right now, Dell is selling the XPS 13 with Intel Core Ultra 7 256V processor, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD with 1920x1200p, 120Hz 13.4-inch display for $400 off its regular sale price. You definitely don’t want to miss this one!
Dell XPS 13: was $1,399.99 now $999.99 at Dell
Black Friday might be officially over in the UK but don’t tell Currys, which is still offering this awesome Chromebook for £100 off.
Powered by an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB eMMC storage, this Chromebook has plenty of performance on deck. Paired with a 14-inch full HD display, you can’t get much better for less than £250.
Acer Spin 514 Chromebook Plus: was £349 now £249 at Currys
I couldn’t let Black Friday pass us by without bringing you this incredible offer on the Dell Inspiron 15 over at Dell.com. Powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 7730U processor with Radeon graphics, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD, this laptop also boasts a 15.6-inch full HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate to help make everything look buttery smooth.
While the Inspiron series is normally a much more affordable lineup (compared to the more premium XPS line), this Inpiron 15 is $250 off right now, bringing you a seriously powerful laptop for just under $450.
Dell Inspiron 15: was $699.99 now $449.99 at Dell
For UK gamers, you’ll definitely want to check out this MSI Katana A15 AI gaming laptop at Currys before Black Friday ends in the UK.
With an AMD Ryzen 9 8945H processor, Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, 16GB RAM, and 1TB PCIe SSD on a 144Hz full HD display, you’ll get fantastic gaming performance on the go for £200 off its list price.
MSI Katana A15 AI: was £1,299 now £1,099 at Currys
Not to leave our UK readers out of the fun, Currys has a fantastic deal on a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15.6-inch FHD laptop for £120 off an already super low price.
Usually, Windows laptops at this price point are pretty terrible spec-wise, but that’s not the case here. Running on an Intel Core i3-1215U, this isn’t exactly a powerhouse, but it is still an Intel Core processor, which is something you don’t often find at this price. What’s more, it comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage, both of which are more than enough for basic computing use.
If you don’t want to mess around with a Chromebook, this is one of the best Windows laptops you’ll find at this price.
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15.6-inch FHD laptop (i3, 8GB, 128GB): was £349 now £229 at Currys
Pivoting from gaming laptops for a moment, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to bring you this gem of a laptop, geared more toward productivity and everyday use.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15.6-inch laptop has a full HD display, an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor with Radeon graphics, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. Normally, these kinds of specs will cost you close to $800, but you can get it for nearly half-off right now at Best Buy, easily making this the best Black Friday laptop deal I’ve seen this year.
Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15.6-inch FHD laptop (Ryzen 7, 16GB, 512GB): was $799.99 now $419.99 at Best Buy
Since I’m not trying to leave my UK friends without a great gaming laptop deal with which they, too, can enjoy the agony and the ecstasy of spaghettified conveyor belts crisscrossing Satisfactory’s alien landscape, there’s this awesome Currys deal on a Lenovo LOQ 15.6-inch gaming laptop that you’ll definitely want to check out.
It’s got an AMD Ryzen 7 7436HS processor, Nvidia RTX 4070, 16GB RAM, and 1TB storage on a full HD, 144Hz display, all of which is perfect for factory-building on the go.
Lenovo LOQ 15.6-inch FHD gaming laptop (AMD Ryzen 7, RTX 4070, 16GB, 1TB): was £1,399 now £999 at Currys
Happy Black Friday folks, this is John, TechRadar’s US computing editor.
I was wandering through Matt’s old suggestions from this morning and saw that he recommended Balatro to everyone. It’s a fine suggestion (it is a great game), but I’ll take a point of personal privilege here since I’ll be running things here today on this Black Friday and recommend a game as well.
I’m talking, of course, about Satisfactory, a first-person factory builder like Factorio except it’s even more unhinged. I’ve sunk nearly 300 hours into the game so far, and I’m pretty sure that’s not correct, as I know I’ve played it way more than that.
Give it a look over at Steam and get ready to join the fierce debate over load balancing versus manifolds.
If you’re looking for a great gaming laptop to play this masterpiece on, I recommend the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 on sale at Best Buy right now.
It has an Intel i9-14900HX processor (great for calculating all those factory outputs), 16GB DDR5 RAM to store all that data, and an Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU to power its 16-inch, 1900 x 1200p display. The 1TB SSD is also more than enough for most gaming needs.
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (i9, 16GB, 1TB): was $1,499 now $999.99 at Best Buy
Samsung’s line Galaxy Book 2-in-1 laptops are as solid as they come and the Book4 360 is no exception. It comes with an AMOLED touchscreen, Intel Core 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage, not to mention that it doubles as a fully functional and high quality tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Book4 360 2-in-1 15-inch: w̶a̶s̶ $1,349.99, now $899.99
The cheaper model is currently under $900, while the upgraded one with an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU and 1TB of storage is a still reasonable $1,249.99 at Best Buy.
15-inch MacBook Air (M2). Under $1,000. Need I say more? I shall for your perusing pleasure: Best Buy is throwing Mac deals at us like they get charged per laptop left over at the end of the day.
You get 15 inches of screen real estate with this model, and while the latest MacBook Air laptops feature the M3 chip, the M2 inside of the Air in particular is nothing to scoff at. With 8GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD, this isn’t the most powerful of Apple’s repertoire.
But you wouldn’t want a MacBook Air for that anyways – this is a laptop that knows its made for easy travel, snappy performance on work tasks, and media enjoyment with its eye-catching screen.
And it delivers on all fronts.
Apple MacBook Air 15-inch (2023, M2): was $1,299 now $999 at Best Buy
This Best Buy Black Friday sale brings a solid last-gen build to under $2,000. The recent arrival of the M4 series may be all the craze (and for good reason), but the M3 Pro is still a very performant chip, especially when you pair it with 18GB of unified memory and a speedy SSD like this model does.
It also features the MacBook Liquid Retina display you know and love and comes in either Space Black or Silver colorways. If you want to bump the memory up to 36GB, you’re looking at another $400 on the price tag, so I think 18GB is the sweet spot here.
You won’t see this under $2,000 for long, so get on over to Best Buy now!
Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023, M3 Pro): was $2,399 now $1,999 at Best Buy
If you have the capital for it, the 16-inch MacBook Pro M4 Max is the Mac-num opus (sorry) of Apple laptops. It features the most processing power the Cupertino-based giant can produce without compromising on the unique features and feel that define the MacBook lineup.
Photo and video editing, working with large AI projects, disappearing into thousands of lines of code…this MacBook will help you do it all without as much as a hiccup.
And how could you say no to that 16-inch Liquid Retina display? I simply can’t take my eyes off it.
The only thing holding the M4 Max back is its asking price. This is a $3,000+ laptop (typically $3,499 for this model) that isn’t for everyone, but is absolutely perfect for those aiming for peak performance. Thankfully, Best Buy is running some fantastic Black Friday deals, and you can shave $400 off of your total here while the sale lasts!
Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch(2024, M4 Max): was $3,499 now $3,099 at Best Buy
Need some serious Apple horsepower for development or creativity work? Look no further than the big, sleek, and powerful 16-inch MacBook Pro M4 Pro.
Without beating around the bush, the price tag isn’t easy to swallow. At an original price of $2,499, Apple knows you get what you pay for. This Black Friday deal eases the sting with a $300 discount, though, which drops this MacBook Pro down $2,199 for the time being.
The trade-off for that asking price is some fantastic hardware in the M4 Pro chip, 24GB of unified memory, a 512GB SSD for storage, and a gorgeous 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display. A terrific investment that will last you years of Apple enjoyment, the 16-inch MacBook Pro M4 Pro won’t be at this price for very long.
MacBook Pro 16-inch (M4, 2024): was $2,499 now $2,199 at Best Buy
The Asus TUF Gaming A16 is one for fans of Team Red: this gaming laptop uses both a CPU and GPU from AMD, namely the Ryzen 7 7735HS and Radeon RX 7700S respectively. The AMD-exclusive parts allow for superior system power efficiency, giving the battery life a little boost (and literally any help in that department is great for a gaming laptop, since most of them have pretty poor battery life).
It’s also got 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD – these sorts of specs would make it reasonable value for anything below a thousand bucks, but the current $699 deal price makes it an absolute steal – seriously, this is a ridiculously good value 1080p gaming machine.
Asus TUF Gaming A16: was $1,099 now $699 at Best Buy
A high-end, AI-ready convertible laptop, the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 packs an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU and Full HD LED touchscreen, plus 1TB of high-speed storage for keeping all your files – and it’s a huge $450 off for Black Friday at Best Buy.
Professionals who have been keeping an eye on the evolving AI ecosystem within Windows (and beyond) should seriously consider this one: the Inspiron 16 2-in-1’s Intel processor features a dedicated NPU for running local AI tools, designating it as a ‘Copilot+ PC’ under Microsoft’s AI expansion plan. If you want a future-proof work laptop, this is the one to get.
Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1: was $1,149 now $699 at Best Buy
OK this isn’t a post about a deal, but more of a cry for help. Whilst searching for the best laptop deals on Black Friday, I’m also CONSTANTLY thinking about Balatro, a game that has managed to consume my life on both PC and mobile.
It’s an amazing game that’s rightfully won loads of awards (we gave it best game of the year). If you haven’t played it yet, on one hand I highly recommend it, but be warned: you might not be able to stop playing it.
Want a super-cheap laptop, but don’t want to make the jump to ChromeOS and leave Windows behind? Best Buy has you covered this Black Friday, with a $300 discount on the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 – a reduction of more than 50% for a respectable Windows 11 laptop.
Featuring a Ryzen 5 7520U processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 15-inch Full HD display, this is a great deal for the price; that quad-core, eight-thread CPU will have no difficulty conducting day-to-day tasks in Windows, whether that’s office work, school assignments, or just watching some YouTube. Just don’t expect it to run all the latest big PC games!
Lenovo IdeaPad 1: was $579 now $279 at Best Buy
For US readers waking up to Black Friday, howdy! Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Let’s mix things up with some US deals I’ve found.
Shoppers hunting for a budget gaming laptop this Black Friday can rejoice: Acer’s shiny new Nitro V 15 is down to its lowest price ever on Amazon. The Nitro V 15 packs an RTX 4050, Intel Core i7 CPU, and 16GB of DDR5 RAM – the latter is user-upgradable along with the SSD storage, too.
Sporting a redesigned chassis that injects a bit of extra aesthetic flair to the formerly rather basic Acer Nitro series, this laptop represents a step up for Acer’s affordable gaming laptop brand. With Wi-Fi 6 for high-speed connections when playing games online, and a solid selection of physical ports including HDMI video output, the Nitro V 15 is a good choice for anyone who wants a gaming laptop that won’t cost them the world.
Acer Nitro V 15: was $849 now $749 at Amazon
Over at Currys, this laptop deal has caught my eye:
MSI Prestige 14 AI Evo (Intel Core Ultra 7, 16GB, 512GB SSD): was £899 now £629 at Currys
This is a tasty £270 off a cutting-edge laptop with Intel’s recent AI-capable Ultra 7 processor. With 16GB RASM and 512SSD, plus an advertised battery life of up to 18 hours, this is an excellent thin and light laptop that should really breeze through most tasks.
Fancy something a bit cheaper, but with a similar design? Then Amazon has this:
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD): was £899.99 now £529.99
This is a very similar laptop and once again comes with a stunning OLED screen. Because of the lower price you don’t get quite as powerful a CPU, this time a (still very good) Ryzen 7 chip from AMD, and storage is 512GB, but those specs will still be more than enough for a lot of people – and this 41% reduction makes it a very tempting offer.
Over on Amazon, I’ve just found this fantastic deal for the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED, one of the most stylish Windows 11 laptops you can get, with an OLED screen that looks absolutely stunning.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (Intel Core i9, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD): was £1,399.99 now £799.99
This is a stunning laptop for a stunning price, quite frankly, and even MacBook die-hards will be impressed with this device – it’s stylish, powerful and with a gorgeous screen.
Its Intel Core i9 13th generation CPU and 16GB RAM means this will be a better performer than any other laptop at this price point, quite frankly.
If you can afford it, the newer MacBook Air with M3 chip, which launched earlier this year, is also on sale. As with the M2 model, the cheapest version of the M3 MacBook Air initially came with 8GB of memory, but Apple recently changed this to 16GB.
However, it seems like Argos wasn’t given much stock of this newer model with more memory – all the deals I’ve found are for the M3 MacBook Air with 8GB:
Apple MacBook Air (M3, 8GB, 256GB): was £949 now £849
So, at Argos for an extra £100 you get the more powerful M3 chip. Everything else, including memory and SSD, are the same. It’s a shame it’s not the 16GB model, and to be honest, I think most people would be better off either saving £100 and going for the M2 model, or keeping a look out for the M3 model with 16GB memory.
Argos has also got some good prices on MacBooks. I don’t think they are cheaper than anywhere else, but they are certainly competing with the likes of Amazon and Currys, so if you prefer to shop at Argos (you get Nectar points and can even pick up some products same-day from your nearby store) then these are the deals I recommend:
Apple MacBook Air (M2, 8GB, 256GB): was £799 now £749
Argos has taken £50 off the price for the M2 model, making it just £749. That’s an incredibly tempting price for such a great laptop.
It’s not the most modern version with the M3 chip, and it comes with 8GB of memory, whereas we’re seeing a lot more MacBook Air models start with 16GB, but for this price it really is an excellent performer and a great choice for students looking for something affordable and reliable that will get them through their courses.
Instead, this is a great deal:
Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go: £119 from Argos
This also comes with 4GB of RAM, but for a Chromebook that’s not as big a concern as Chrome OS is much less resource-hungry than Windows 11, which allows it run much more smoothly on low powered hardware.
This means Chromebooks are often very cheap – and this Samsung model is particularly impressive for just £119. Samsung makes some great devices, and its Chromebooks are no different, with a stylish design and solid build quality that means they certainly don’t feel cheap. While you’re not going to be doing anything seriously intensive on this thing, it’s ideal for students and kids, or anyone who just wants a spare laptop they can quickly grab to work on.
First, let’s take a look at some of the retailers in the UK and what sales they have going on. I’ll start with Argos, which these days doesn’t mean I have to lug out a huge catalogue and start reading – it’s all done on this thing called the ‘internet’ now.
To be honest, I wasn’t initially impressed as Argos was pushing a Windows 11 laptop with 4GB of RAM for under £300. I won’t link to it as, to be blunt, you should not buy a Windows 11 laptop in 2024 with just 4GB of RAM. That is going to be incredibly slow, and apps and even Windows itself will really struggle to run. Avoid.
Good morning! Here in the UK it is now Black Friday, well… it’s been Black Friday for the past six hours to be fair, but even a deals hunting machine like myself needs to sleep. A very special thanks to John, our components editor, for keeping this blog running overnight, especially as it was Thanksgiving.
Anyway, I’ve brewed a tea, fed the cat and am now going to bring you the very best Black Friday laptop deals I can find.
OK, folks, that’s it for us here in the US this Thanksgiving day.
Our Managing Editor, Matt Hanson, is here to take over to cover all the latest sales going live in the UK, so bookmark, keep this tab open, or otherwise stay tuned for all the latest and greatest Black Friday laptop deals throughout the day!
Just so we don’t neglect all the great UK Black Friday laptop deals, I want to make sure to bring you the Asus ProArt PZ13 OLED 13.3-inch detachable laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus SoC, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD storage.
Asus ProArt PZ13 OLED: was £1,199 now £799 at Currys
The real selling point here, though, is the 3K (2880 x 1800p) OLED touchscreen display with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, an essential precision for digital artists and video editors everywhere.
Black Friday is live on the East Coast, and we’re live, bringing you all the latest deals as we find them!
If you’re looking for an even larger screen for your Surface Laptop, the 15-inch model is an excellent choice, especially at this price point:
Microsoft Surface Laptop (2024) 15-inch: w̶a̶s̶ $1,299.99, now $1,094.99
This version is equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite CPU with 12 cores, guaranteeing even better performance, speed, and battery life. This one also has a touchscreen, making it ideal as a workstation for creatives.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Chromebook isn’t particularly great on specs—it only has 4GB memory and 64GB eMMC storage, but it does come with a 15.6-inch FHD display, and right now for Black Friday, it’s more than half off at Best Buy.
Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Chromebook: was $249 now $119 at Best Buy
The Book4 Pro is an excellent AI Ultrabook meant for the more professional-minded worker who needs a thin and lightweight laptop to commute with. It features a 3K AMOLED touchscreen display along with a powerful Intel Core 7 Ultra CPU, all for nearly $1,000. There’s also a model with 1TB of storage for $1,219.99 at Amazon.
Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Book4 Pro: w̶a̶s̶ $1,449.99, now $1,089.99
Our own Allisa James reviewed the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 and she said it was easily one of the best laptops she used all year. It has the full package including exceptional performance, a great display, incredible battery life, a thin and lightweight design and more. This is all in part to the Snapdragon X Plus CPU, which has completely turned around this laptop series.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 14-inch: w̶a̶s̶ $999.99, now $844.99
A serious MacBook competitor for users who prefer Windows to macOS, this HP Envy 2-in-1 16-inch laptop is fantastic value this Black Friday. This latest configuration packs an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit for AI workloads, a hefty 32GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage – perfect for creative professionals who need cutting-edge hardware for multitasking.
As the name implies, the Envy 2-in-1 16-inch also has a 16-inch 2K touch display with a 360-degree hinge, letting you effortlessly switch into tablet mode – a boon for digital artists. With a fantastic $450 discount at Best Buy, this is a serious contender for ‘best MacBook alternative’ this Black Friday.
HP Envy 2-in-1 16-inch: was $1,349 now $899 at Best Buy
Gaming laptops, especially those toting Nvidia RTX graphics cards, aren’t usually synonymous with “cheap.” Throw some Black Friday deals like $400 off the Acer Nitro V15 in the mix, and affordability slides into the discussion.
This Acer gaming laptop comes complete with an RTX 4060, which is the second most popular card on Steam’s hardware survey, a Core i9-13900H (a CPU we’ve routinely enjoyed using in gaming laptops like the Origin EON 16SL), 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD to store your games.
That’s some serious hardware for under $900. Get it before the sale ends and this 1080p laptop goes back to $1,300!
Acer Nitro V15: was $1,299.99 now $899.99 at Newegg
Did MSI mean to do this? Its dropped the price on the MSI Katana 17 by nearly 50% for Black Friday! That’s a £750 saving that drops this gaming laptop to the lowest price we’ve ever seen it – only while the sale runs of course.
Now, you’re getting a modest Nvidia RTX 4050 here, so don’t expect to jump into Cyberpunk 2077 and start dragging all the settings bars to the right side of your screen. But you absolutely will be able to run less demanding indie titles and well-optimized AAA games at 1080p, and the display does have a beautifully-smooth 144Hz refresh rate to it (which I think is the sweet spot of gaming displays).
Pair the Katana’s specs with the Black Friday price tag and you have yourself one solid gaming laptop deal.
MSI Katana 17: was £1,549 now £799 at Amazon
OK, OK, I know this next deal isn’t a laptop, but I just found it on Dell’s US site, and I think this is a brilliant deal, and perhaps not the most obvious if you’re looking for a gaming PC.
At first glance, the Dell XPS laptop looks like a standard, rather boring, productivity desktop PC – but the specs tell a different story. For a start, it has a 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900K processor, with 24 cores, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD and an Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card. This is, essentially, an incredibly powerful desktop PC that can easily play modern games. The RTX 4070 remains an excellent GPU, and the fact that this doesn’t look like a gaming PC might be a big plus for people who aren’t too keen on RGB-packed monster rigs.
Best of all, it’s had a $600 price cut for Black Friday, making this an absolute bargain.
Dell XPS Desktop (Intel Core i9, 32GB RAM, RTXX 4070, 1TB SSD): was £2,344.99 now $1,744.99
With the RTX 4080 GPU powering your system for graphics- scenarios, the Alienware M18 R2 gaming laptop is the perfect gift this Black Friday. While this laptop’s GPU isn’t Nvidia’s top-of-the-line RTX 4090, the 4080 and 4080 Super (desktop GPU) lead against other GPUs right behind it.
While the laptop GPU’s 12GB of VRAM isn’t as much as the desktop GPU’s 16GB, it still impresses across several demanding AAA games, especially at its 2560×1600 resolution – DLSS 3 and Frame Generation are also present to help where necessary. With 32GB of DDR5 RAM, a 14th Gen Intel i9-14900HX processor, and a 165Hz refresh rate, there’s so much to love here.
Alienware M2 R18: was $2.799.99 now $2,199.99
Deal ending soon! The Alienware X16 R2 is among the most affordable mid-range (close to high-end) gaming laptops on the market during Black Friday. This is thanks to the RTX 4070 GPU and Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H processor, providing enough power to run your favorite games the native resolution (2560×1600).
Alienware X16 R2: was $2,399.99 now $1,999.99
If you’re after a large-screen laptop with a thin and light design, then the Dell XPS 15 is a great choice, and once again, Dell’s online store has some brilliant Black Friday deals in both the UK and US:
Dell XPS 15 (Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD): was £999 now £899
Dell XPS 15 (Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD): was $1,299 now $899
Both the XPS 15 laptops above are essentially the same configuration, and at this price they certainly beat the 15-inch MacBook Air, which even with discounts is a fair bit more expensive.
The Acer Nitro V 16 is the gaming laptop you should be looking for if you’re intent on a great gaming experience at the 1920×1200 display resolution, but don’t want to spend a fortune. Driven by Nvidia’s RTX 4060 GPU, it packs a significant amount of power for consistent frame rates (especially when using DLSS 3).
Gaming laptops powered by Team Green’s RTX 4000 series GPUs don’t often come cheap, so the current Black Friday price drop is certainly a (pleasant) surprise.
Acer Nitro V 16: was £1,199.99 now £899.99
There’s good value, and then there’s great value – and this Lenovo Chromebook for a staggeringly cheap $119 (a reduction of more than 50%) falls squarely into the latter category. In fact, it’s the single cheapest laptop that I feel comfortable recommending this Black Friday – I’ve seen cheaper, but frankly, the drop in functionality from that price and below just isn’t worth it.
Sure, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Chromebook isn’t going to run the latest AAA games, but at this sort of price, it’s hard to quibble over the capabilities of the Intel Celeron processor powering it – it’ll cope fine with ordinary home and office tasks like web research, watching videos, and replying to emails. The low price (and the baked-in parental controls in ChromeOS) make this a great choice of first laptops for a younger user, too.
Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Chromebook: was $249 now $119 at Best Buy
Are you a ChromeOS fan, but want a laptop that feels a little bit more premium than the budget Chromebooks currently flooding online retailers? Check this one out: the Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 comes with a robust chassis and boasts a spec sheet that places it above the majority of Chromebooks: a 13th-gen Intel deca-core processor, 8GB of DDR5 memory, and a Full HD webcam for better video calls.
As a ‘Plus’ Chromebook, the CX34 is considered Google AI-ready, meaning you can take better advantage of local and cloud-based AI tools. With a $150 discount (a considerable price-slicing, given that this model only launched earlier this year!) it’s an excellent choice of midrange work laptop – oh, and the Pearl White colorway is rather fetching too.
Asus Chromebook Plus CX34: was $379 now $269 at Best Buy
Our impact on the environment is a big consideration for many people – myself included – and Acer has been one of the most impressive companies when it comes to making green pledges – and actually sticking to them. This is especially true with its Vero range of laptops, and one has had a massive discount for Black Friday in the UK:
Acer Aspire Vero: was £829.99 now £589.99
This model comes with a 13th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and massive 1TB of storage. It also comes in a bundle with a protective sleeve and mouse, with a big 29% saving.
Thanks to its sustainable design, this laptop is easily upgradable, and its body is made of 30% post-consumer recycled materials. Even the packaging is environmentally friendly, as it’s made from recycled materials, and uses paper instead of plastic for protecting the laptop.
This is a great deal for a solid laptop that will handle day-to-day tasks with ease, and the fact that it’s also relatively environmentally friendly makes this an even easier deal to recommend.
Looking for something a bit different – and a bit more portable? We’ve always had a soft spot for Lenovo’s rather excellent Duet Chromebook product line, and this year saw a new arrival after a lengthy hiatus for the Duet family: the rebooted Lenovo Duet 11 Chromebook.
A hybrid laptop-tablet with a detachable magnetic keyboard and 11-inch 2K touchscreen, this dinky device is the perfect Chromebook for users on the go – or even kids, since ChromeOS features robust parental controls and an easy-to-navigate interface. It won’t play the latest triple-A PC games, but for Google Play Store apps and general internet use, it’s a compact dream device.
Lenovo Duet 11 Chromebook: was $379 now $269 at Best Buy
Here’s a great gaming laptop deal for people in the US! The MSI Thin 15 is a fantastic choice for gamers aiming for great performance at a 1080p resolution, and it’s equipped with the RTX 4050 GPU. While there’s no doubt that the 6GB of VRAM isn’t the best in 2024 (especially with more demanding games), it’s certainly good enough for 1080p – Nvidia’s DLSS 3 and Frame Generation software are here to do the heavy lifting where necessary.
This is the cheapest price for a gaming laptop that uses Nvidia’s RTX 4000 series GPUs—it’s honestly a surprise to see it this low, so now is the perfect opportunity to buy it.
MSI Thin 15: was $899.99 now $599.99 at Best Buy
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is one of the best laptops on the market, with an OLED display that stands above multiple OLED desktop monitors, with a True Black 600 VESA certification for HDR. Its Snapdragon X Elite processor provides fantastic performance across the board (slightly weaker for games at the 2994×1840 resolution), especially for video editing and AI functionality such as Copilot+.
Its current sale is very generous, and you’ll be getting the bang for your buck.
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x US: was $1,289.99 now $999.99
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x UK: was £1,250 now £1,000
Lowest price ever! While we wait for the rumored M4 MacBook Air launch early next year, the M3 13-inch MacBook Air is now on sale at its lowest price on Amazon. It’s ranked as the best MacBook among our favorite laptops in 2024, providing the edge you need across multiple intense tasks – video editing, 3D rendering, and gaming all function at great levels.
While it can be tempting to wait for the M4 MacBook Air, this might be the biggest discount you’ll see for a while on the M3 MacBook Air.
Apple M3 MacBook Air 13-inch Amazon US: was $1,099 now $844
Apple M3 MacBook Air 13-inch Amazon UK: was £1,099 now £949
Speaking of deals, just by chance I came upon what could be the best cheap Black Friday deal in the UK this year:
Dell Inspiron 15: was £399 now £299 at Dell
Now, it’s rare that I would ever suggest buying a Windows 11 laptop for under £300 – usually there’s far too many compromises being made to keep the price so low (such as using old, or underpowered components, or just having a general cheap build quality).
At this price point you’re usually much better off buying a Chromebook (don’t forget to check out our Chromebook Black Friday deals roundup).
However, the Dell Inspiron 15 is a great buy for this low price. You get a stylish and well-built machine, a AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD, which is plenty of space. The 15.6-inch 1080p screen will beat any Chromebook screen at this price as well. If you want a super-cheap laptop, this could be the one to get.
Morning! Welcome to Black Friday Eve (otherwise known as Thursday). Happy Thanksgiving to our US readers! Here in the UK it’s chilly yet dry, so let’s get hunting for more laptop deals!
There’s also a model with 1TB of storage on sale as well.
Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Book4 Pro (512GB SSD): w̶a̶s̶ $1,449.99 now $1,089.99
Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Book4 Pro (1TB SSD): w̶a̶s̶ $1,749.99 now $1,219.99
The Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with M4 chip is less than a month old, but already we’re seeing sale pricing on these latest models, like this Best Buy Black Friday deal on a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chip, 24GB memory, and a 1TB SSD in Space Black.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M4 Pro, 24GB, 1TB, Space Black): was $2,399 now $2,099 at Best Buy
The Apple MacBook Air 13-inch with M2 chip is a couple of years old right now, but it’s still one of the best thin and light laptops around, and during Best Buy’s Black Friday sale, you can get $250 off a model with 16GB memory and 256GB storage, an absolute must-have spec combo if you want to use the new Apple Intelligence features Apple is rolling out now.
Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M2, 16GB, 256GB): was $999 now $749 at Best Buy
For those in the UK, you can get an incredible deal on a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro chip, 18GB memory, and 512GB SSD in Silver for £250 off during Currys Black Friday sales event, happening right now.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3 Pro, 18GB, 512GB, Silver): was £1,949 now £1,699 at Currys
Turning our attention to some Apple MacBook Pro Black Friday deals, we’ve got this Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with 8-core CPU/10-core GPU M3 chip, 8GB memory, and 512GB SSD in Space Black for $200 at Best Buy.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3, 8GB, 512GB, Space Black): was $1,399 now $1,199 at Best Buy
Samsung’s line Galaxy Book 2-in-1 laptops are as solid as they come and the Book4 360 is no exception. It comes with an AMOLED touchscreen, Intel Core 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage, not to mention that it doubles as a fully functional and high-quality tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Book4 360 2-in-1 15-inch: w̶a̶s̶ $1,349.99 now $899.99
The cheaper model is currently under $900, while the upgraded 16-inch version with an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU and 1TB of storage is still reasonably priced at just under $1,250 at Best Buy.
Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 2-in-1 16-inch: was $1,899.99 now $1,249.99 at Best Buy
AI PCs are all the rage, and while the prices tend to be reasonable, they can still be a bit on the higher end of the cost range. But this Black Friday deal drops the price of this Snapdragon X Plus-powered Ultrabook by 22% or under $700 – its lowest price ever!
Samsung 15-inch Galaxy AI Book4 Edge: w̶a̶s̶ $899.99, now $699.99
The Samsung Galaxy Book series has always been a beacon of quality for mid-range Ultrabooks and, with this incredible Black Friday deal, you can get your hands on one for less than $530.
Samsung Galaxy Book4 15: w̶a̶s̶ $899.99 now $529.99
It comes with an Intel Core 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. It’s the perfect Ultrabook at a budget laptop price, one of the best laptop deals I’ve ever seen – period.
Looking for a gaming laptop that offers some visual flair as well as strong performance? Look no further: the Asus ROG Strix G16 is a laptop with a premium look and feel, bringing bright customizable RGB lighting to both the stylish keyboard and the lightbar that runs along the front edge of the chassis.
It’s not all sizzle and no steak, though – the ROG Strix G16 also packs an RTX 4060 graphics card and Intel Core i7-13650HX processor, perfect for multitasking. It’s ideal if you’re a budding streamer who wants to run Twitch or OBS in the background while you’re gaming. Oh, and a terabyte of high-speed SSD storage means you can download more than one modern Call of Duty game at a time (seriously Activision, you gotta sort out those filesizes).
Asus ROG Strix G16: was $1,399.99 now $1,099.99 at Amazon
For anyone looking to balance good value with strong gaming performance this Black Friday, the MSI Katana 15 should tick all the right boxes. Featuring an RTX 4070 graphics card, a 13th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, and an excellent QHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate, this laptop is a strong deal at $1,099.99 – more than 20% off.
The specs sheet places this laptop squarely in the midrange when it comes to PC gaming hardware, but that’s no bad thing – I’ve long said that 1440p is the ideal target resolution for modern gaming, and this laptop delivers that QHD goodness in spades. It also comes with 1TB of upgradable SSD storage, giving you plenty of space to store your favorite games.
MSI Katana 15: was $1,399.99 now $1,099.99 at Amazon
If you’re after the very cheapest laptop on Black Friday that is actually worth buying, then I still think getting a Chromebook is the way to go.
In the UK, I really recommend this deal:
Acer 514 Chromebook Plus: was £349 now £249 at Currys
For £249 you’re not going to get a decent Windows 11 laptop, but this Chromebook is really is worth checking out. As a Chromebook Plus device it has more powerful components than usual Chromebooks, giving it a performance edge, and you get 12 months of access to Google’s cutting-edge AI tools as well.
Finding an RTX 4070 gaming laptop for less than £1,000 is nigh-impossible for eleven months of the year, but thanks to Black Friday, you can pick up the Asus TUF F15 with RTX 4070 and Intel Core i7-12700H for just £949.99, a reduction of more than 20%.
Asus’s TUF lineup are bread-and-butter gaming laptops: they’re not setting out to dazzle you with fancy features, just provide a solid gaming experience in a durable chassis. The TUF F15 doesn’t buck this trend, offering a no-frills 1080p gaming experience that guarantees high framerates at maximum graphical presets in the vast majority of games thanks to its powerful GPU and Nvidia’s Frame Generation technology.
Asus TUF F15: was £1,199.99 now £949.99 at Amazon
If you’re in the UK and want a solid midrange gaming laptop, this is one of the best deals I’ve seen so far this Black Friday. The Lenovo LOQ 15 is down to £879 at Currys – a hefty £320 discount that nets you an RTX 4060 laptop with an FHD 144Hz display and 1TB of storage (vital for anyone who wants to download triple-A games with chunky filesizes).
One of the main drawbacks of the LOQ 15 was its relatively high entry price for an RTX 4060 laptop, but this deal fixes that, so it’s suddenly very easy to recommend. Thanks to its clean and refined design, this laptop can also comfortably pull double duty as a gaming machine and a work laptop.
Lenovo LOQ 15: was £1,199 now £879 at Currys
If you’re after the most recent model of the Dell XPS, which comes with the AI-ready Snapdragon X Elite chip, 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD, Dell also has a great offer on that:
Dell XPS 13 (Snapdragon X Elite, 32GB RAM, 512GB): was £1,699.99 now £1,249
Now, this is still a pricey laptop, but with a massive £450 off, this is about as close to affordable as you’ll see for such a cutting-edge device. The 32GB of RAM will ensure this is a speedy performer for years, and the X Elite chip offers great performance as well as incredibly long battery life. It’s well worth considering if you want a thin, light and portable laptop you can use to work pretty much anywhere.
However, the Dell XPS 13 is one of the best laptops you can buy – throughout the years various editions have topped our Best Laptops page, and I can already tell this new one is going to be impressive.
The good news is that Dell usually goes really hard on Black Friday deals, especially with the Dell XPS 13, so let’s kick off with some great Dell XPS 13 deals I’ve found – and straight away at Dell’s official store I’ve found what might be the best laptop Black Friday deal yet:
Dell XPS 13 (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB): was £968.99 now £598.99
This is a fantastic deal for a few reasons. While this isn’t the most recent model, it comes with a 12th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. Those specs would normally be classed as ‘OK’, as 8GB of RAM is a bit limited these days, and the SSD could fill up quickly. However, at just under £600, you’re not going to get a better laptop at this price – the design, build quality, screen and overall performance is incredible for what Dell is selling this for. This might be the laptop deal of Black Friday 2024, so don’t hang around if you’ve been waiting for an epic deal on a thin and light laptop. This is the one to get – yes, even over a MacBook Air.
Oh look, the new Dell XPS 13 has a Copilot button. How many times am I going to use it? I’m guessing… zero. Zero times.
Here’s a bit of a peek behind the curtains – I’ve just got in the brand new Dell XPS 13 with Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chip, and due to Black Friday I won’t be able to properly review it until next week – so I’m ditching my trusty M2 MacBook Pro for the next few days and will be using the Dell XPS 13 as my main machine throughout Black Friday.
First impressions are that it’s nicely design, though the flat keyboard will take a bit of getting used to. I’m not too keen on the invisible trackpad just yet, but hopefully that grows on me. Still, the screen looks amazing, and Dell promises 26 hours of battery life. Will this go a few days of heavy deals writing? Time will tell….
Also as you can see from the image above, I’ve opened up Microsoft Edge…. to download Chrome.
Good morning! We are now just under three days from Black Friday, but it seems more so than any other year, an increasing amount of retailers are going big on early Black Friday deals, and that means the days of waiting until Black Friday itself to make a purchase are long gone.
Instead, there are some absolutely excellent deals that you should jump on right now, and I’ll continue to highlight all the latest offers right here as they hit, for both the UK and US.
OK, so I’m going to end my day here in New York with a bit of niche one for the two or three of you out there who might actually be up for buying this monster of a gaming laptop. This is the MSI Titan 18 HX, which is quite possibly the most overpowered, most unnecessarily extra gaming laptop on the market with a retail price tag that is usually stuck to the windshield of a decent used car.
Normally selling for near or above $5,000, Micro Center has a deal on it right now that takes a substantial chunk off the top, making it at least somewhat more affordable. In fact, it’s the lowest price I’ve ever seen for this laptop in the year since Computing Editor John Loeffler reviewed it (he gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars).
The only catch on this deal is that it’s in-store pickup only, so you’ll have to see if your nearest Micro Center has stock (the page conveniently tells you if it does), but if you want a desktop replacement you’ll be playing on for the rest of the decade without compromise, this laptop will deliver thanks to its stunning mini-LED 4K+ display, RTX 4090 GPU, 64GB RAM, and 4TB of PCIe SSD storage.
MSI Titan 18 HX: was $4,999.99 now $4,199.99 at Micro Center
While we’re giving the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook line some love here this week, I also wanted to make sure to not leave out our UK readers. Right now, you can get this Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 Chromebook for 47% off, but this one surely won’t last long.
Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 Chromebook: was £315.22 now £169.99 at Amazon
This particular model comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor with built-in graphics, 4GB memory, and 128GB eMMC flash storage, so it’s not a performance powerhouse by any means, but as a hybrid Chromebook that can double as an 11-inch tablet with 2K display, it’s hard to beat at this price.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook is a long-time favorite here at TechRadar, with Computing Editor John Loeffler declaring in his review that “One of the best Chromebooks ever just got better”, thanks to its solid performance (for a Chromebook), phenomenal battery life, and it’s absolutely stunning OLED 1080p display, a rarity on a device this affordable.
Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook: was $499 now $349 at Best Buy
If you want that same sleek and unique design from the XPS laptop series but with a slightly larger screen, the 14-inch model is up your alley. Even better, with its performance-driven specs it’s a straight-up gaming laptop. Its Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 1 CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage makes it a better gaming setup than most actual dedicated ones on the market.
Though the price is a bit steep, it’s still $500 off and essentially a thin and light laptop with the latest in components.
Dell XPS 14: w̶a̶s̶ $2,499.99, now $1,999.99
Acer’s latest AI PC offering is no slouch with a 3K OLED display that boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, perfect for PC gaming. It also has 16GB of RAM and a 1TB of storage, all wrapped up in a thinner and lighter package.
The best part is that this Ultrabook-level laptop is below $1,000 thanks to the $200 discount, so now’s the time to invest.
Acer Swift 16 AI: w̶a̶s̶ $1,199.99 now $999.99
The Dell XPS 13 is an excellent buy for those wanting a highly portable laptop with plenty of extra power, as it features the AI-powered Intel Ultra 7 155H CPU along with a massive 32GB of RAM and 4TB of storage. Right now, the price has dropped by over $300.
Dell XPS 13: w̶a̶s̶ $1,759.99 now $1,439.99
Not to mention the unique and very sleek design that’s sure to stand out. If you need a true workstation for heavy-duty creative or editing projects, this is the laptop to get now.
Year after year, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3 continues to be one of, if not THE, most popular Chromebooks on Black Friday, and it’s not hard to see why.
This little, nearly-pocketable Chromebook might not have the most powerful specs, but for its already fantastic price, this is one of the best travel laptops you could ask for, giving you the functionality of a laptop (albeit with ChromeOS) together with the portability of the best tablets out there.
Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3: was $399.99 now $239.99 at Lenovo
If you’re looking for an even larger screen for your Surface Laptop, the 15-inch model is an excellent choice, especially at this price point:
Microsoft Surface Laptop (2024) 15-inch: w̶a̶s̶ $1,299.99, now $1,094.99
This version is equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite CPU with 12 cores, guaranteeing even better performance, speed, and battery life. This one also has a touchscreen, making it ideal as a workstation for creatives.
Our own Allisa James reviewed the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 14-inch and she said it was easily one of the best laptops she’s used all year. It has the full package including exceptional performance, a great display, incredible battery life, and a thin and lightweight design. This is all in part to the Snapdragon X Plus CPU, which has completely turned around this laptop series to make it a true MacBook rival.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 7: w̶a̶s̶ $999.99, now $849.99 at Amazon
When it comes to gaming laptops, I personally prefer gaming on a desktop PC – though I also love gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally X, which offer an excellent portable way for me to play PC games while out and about.
I’ve been playing a lot of the ROG Ally recently, and I would actually recommend it over a gaming laptop for many people – and thankfully there’s some great deals for Black Friday, such as this one:
Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme: was US$659.99 now US$614.99 at Amazon
Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme: was £499.99 now £399 at Amazon
That UK price is especially impressive. While this handheld isn’t as powerful as most gaming laptops, it still does a fantastic job in a form factor I find much more comfortable to use. You won’t get many good gaming laptops for $600/£400 either, no matter how big the Black Friday discount.
If you like the sound of these gaming laptop deals, then make sure you check out our whole collection of the best Black Friday gaming laptop deals, which our Computing Editor Christian Guyton is looking after. He knows his stuff, so he’ll be offering plenty of excellent buying advice over there.
Onto some midrange gaming laptops now: I’ll start with laptops featuring the RTX 4060, which sit comfortably at the more affordable end of the midrange space. My top pick in the US is the Dell G15, a delightfully unassuming 15.6-inch gaming laptop that’s currently 20% off at Amazon.
With an AMD Ryzen 7-7840HS Processor and 16GB of DDR5 RAM backing up that RTX 4060 graphics card, this laptop is ideal for gaming at 1080p resolution and offers a 165Hz refresh rate on its display to ensure your screen never holds back your framerates in-game.
Dell G15: was $1,499.99 now $914.99 at Amazon
You can snag a discounted Razer Blade 16 over in the UK too, with £800 (technically £800.99) off this model packing an RTX 4090 graphics card and 14th-gen Intel Core i9 CPU. The 16-inch OLED QHD+ 240Hz display is quite literally one of the best you’re going to find on any laptop, making this an awesome choice for anyone who craves high-end gaming performance and has the cash to splash on a premium laptop.
Again, the discounts aren’t quite as deep as our friends across the pond are seeing, but this is still a worthy deal – and since it’s the 2024 model with full access to Nvidia’s DLSS 3 tech, you can rest assured that this will be one future-proofed piece of gaming equipment.
Razer Blade 16: was £4,199.99 now £3,399 at Amazon
From the budget to the super-super-super-high-end, let’s take a look at the iconic Razer Blade 16. The high entry price on Razer’s flagship laptop line places them out of reach for many gamers – especially those equipped with a powerhouse RTX 4090 graphics card – but this staggeringly large discount suddenly makes this Blade 16 model look very attractive…
Packing an RTX 4090, 24-core Intel Core i9 HX CPU, and 32GB of RAM (along with a beefy 2TB of SSD storage), this Razer Blade 16 is phenomenal value thanks to a huge $1300 discount – almost a third off the retail price. If you’re shopping for some high-end gaming hardware this Black Friday, this is the one to buy.
Razer Blade 16: was $4,299.99 now $2,999.99 at Amazon
For gamers over in the UK, the cheapest gaming laptop I’d recommend is that trusty MSI Thin 15 again – though it looks like discounts on gaming laptops aren’t quite as deep this Black Friday in the UK, so it might be worth considering a handheld gaming PC instead.
Still, this is the best-value RTX 4000 laptop I could track down in sunny (read: not sunny at all) Great Britain this week, a respectable 25% reduction bringing this MSI Thin 15 down to £749. It’s worth noting that while this is a bit pricier than the US deal I already featured, it features an Intel Core i7 rather than the US model’s i5, so it’s a little more powerful in the CPU department.
MSI Thin 15: was £999 now £749 at Amazon
I’ve just been sent some Black Friday deals from Huawei, and there’s some pretty good offers. Huawei products are still pretty much impossible to get in the US, but in the UK, they are more affordable alternatives to the likes of HP, Lenovo and Apple.
The Huawei’s MateBook series takes obvious inspiration from the design of MacBooks, but in the past here at TechRadar we’ve found them to be more than just cheap lookalikes – they are very good laptops in their own rights, and if you have a Huawei smartphone or tablet, there’s some nice productivity features that allow you to move files between devices quickly and easily, as well as see your phone screen within Windows 11, and lots more. Definitely worth considering these deals if you want an affordable laptop that doesn’t feel cheap:
Huawei MateBook 14 (Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage): was £949.99 now £749.99 at Huawei
Huawei MateBook D16 (13th Gen Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 512GB storage): was £699.99 now £449.99 at Huawei
Huawei MateBook D14 (12th gen Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage): was £699.99 now £499.99
Enough MacBooks, Chromebooks, and ultrabooks: let’s talk gaming laptops for a minute. We’re going to look at a few different deals on top-notch gaming hardware now, but I’m starting with something for budget-conscious gamers: the heavily discounted MSI Thin 15.
With a 13th-gen Intel Core i5 processor, Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics card, and 16GB of RAM, the Thin 15 isn’t a top-of-the-line powerhouse laptop, but it’ll handle modern games just fine on its 144Hz 1080p display – especially since being an RTX 4000-series laptop, it can utilize Nvidia’s DLSS 3 upscaling and frame-gen technology to boost performance and provide a more future-proof laptop experience. This is one of the absolutely cheapest RTX 4000 laptops we’ve seen this Black Friday, so don’t skip this deal if you’re gaming on a budget.
MSI Thin 15: was $899.99 now $599.99 at Best Buy
For those in the US looking for the perfect creative machine, the MacBook Pro equipped with the powerful M3 is a great start, thanks to superior Apple silicon, and now the price makes it much more approachable.
MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3): was $1,599 now $1,399 at Amazon
It also comes with a gorgeous liquid retina display and an impressive 22 hours of battery life, making it the perfect workstation for creatives.
The MacBook Pro 14-inch powered by the M3 chip has gotten a sizable discount in Australia as well, giving buyers a great workstation that offers excellent performance, a beautiful display, fantastic battery life, and more.
MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3): was AU$1,327 now AU$1,599 at JB Hi-Fi
I’ve just spotted this great deal at Currys for the Samsung Galaxy Book3 360. A few years ago, Samsung laptops weren’t anything to get too excited about, but the company has been putting out some fantastic devices recently, and at this new lower price (£350 off), you get an excellent 2-in-1 laptop:
Samsung Galaxy Book3 360: was £949 now £599
With an Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a stunning OLED touchscreen, this is a brilliant performer, and a versatile laptop, as it can be used as a normal laptop, or with the keyboard folded back, it can be used like a tablet. Samsung claims up to 20 hours of battery life, which tracks with my experience of laptops powered by the Intel Core i5-1340P processor, depending on what tasks you’re using it for.
For this price, I think it’s an excellent deal for students and people who want a laptop they can use from the couch. Samsung’s S Pen stylus is also included, giving this laptop even more versatility.
OK, here’s an absolutely brilliant cheap Windows 11 laptop deal from John Lewis, knocking the price down to Chromebook-levels:
Vivobook 15 Laptop: was £349 now £259.99 at John Lewis
This laptop comes with an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, 512GB SSD and a 15.6-inch 1080p screen. It’s a solidly built and stylish-looking budget laptop, and while it’s not the most powerful laptop in the world, it offers incredible value for money.
This is a great pick for students or people looking for a casual laptop to do some work on, who wants something for less than £300 that’s not a Chromebook. It looks like it’s selling quickly at this price.
Let’s kick things off with an absolutely brilliant deal in the UK for the MacBook Air M2 model. As I suspected, Apple changing the base memory from 8GB to 16GB recently means retailers are cutting the price of the older 8GB models to new lows.
Thanks to retailers bumping up newer models to 16GB of memory, this is the perfect time to get your hands on the M2 8GB model, which has plummeted in price:
MacBook Air 13-inch (M2): was £996 now £749 at Currys
The M2 chip is an upgrade from the M1, with even better performance and efficiency. And it’s now close to the current sales price of the M1 MacBook Air, sweetening the deal.
Morning has broken here in the rainy UK, and that means my hunt for the best Black Friday laptop deals continues! Amazingly, I didn’t dream about laptop deals last night, which has happened before during Black Friday.
Anyway, I’ll be bringing you top offers that might seem like a dream, but are DEADLY real. OK, maybe not ‘deadly’…
Looking for a larger laptop that’s still lightweight and easy to carry? Look no further than the MacBook Air 15-inch with M3 chip, which is down to nearly $1,000, a far cry from its original pricing:
MacBook Air 15-inch (M3): was $1,299 now $1,044 at Amazon
Though the increased size does hurt its portability a bit, it provides users with a larger screen, which is worth the tradeoff for many. Not to mention that it still has strong performance, speaker array, and a great design.
Funnily enough, the cheapest Chromebook I’d actually recommend to anyone in the UK this Black Friday is the exact same as in the US (a rare occurrence given how much discounts can fluctuate across the pond) – the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook is currently £100 off at Currys, bringing it down to an extremely reasonable £149.
Again: this laptop is not going to break any speed records. It’s a very basic model, but the MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor and 4GB of RAM can still handle the lightweight ChromeOS and give you a perfectly pleasant laptop experience – provided you just want it for emails, word processing, and perhaps the odd bit of Netflix or YouTube.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook: was £249 now £149 at Currys
Taking a break from MacBooks for the moment, I wanted to come around and bring you this fantastic Chromebook deal right now at Best Buy. It’s not the absolute cheapest Chromebook I’ve been able to find this Black Friday, but it is the cheapest one I’d actually recommend you buy: the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook brings Lenovo’s trusted design and build quality to the ultra-budget space, now even more ultra-budget-ier.
At half the retail price, this $159 Chromebook gives you lightweight laptop functionality for an incredibly low entry cost, making it an ideal first laptop for younger users (especially given ChromeOS’s baked-in parental controls) or a solid pick for anyone with a tight budget who just needs a simple work laptop.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook: was $319 now $159 at Best Buy
While I’m still on the hunt for Black Friday MacBook Pro deals on MacBook Pro models with M4 chip in the UK, there are a bunch of M3-series MacBook Pro configurations on sale.
One of the best deals I’ve found so far is this £500 discount on the MacBook Pro 14-inch with M3 Max chip, 36GB memory, and a 1TB SSD in the Silver colorway. Even on sale, this MacBook Pro isn’t cheap, but this deal does manage to get one of the most powerful laptops around to just under £3000, which is a great deal for pros who need a seriously powerful workstation.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3 Max/36GB/1TB/Silver): was £3,299 now £2,799 at Currys
The new MacBook Pro 14-inch with the Apple M4 chip has been on the market for less than a month, but it’s already getting a major price cut for Black Friday at Best Buy.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M4 (16GB/512GB/Space Black): was $1,599 now $1,399 at Best Buy
The model on sale at Best Buy right now is the base configuration of the Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch, but don’t let that fool you, as it’s still more than powerful enough to chew through all kinds of prosumer workloads like photo and video editing, 3D modeling, and more.
Normally a very premium item in the best of times, this $200 discount for Black Friday makes it a lot more accessible for students and Mac fans on a tighter budget.
Should you buy a MacBook Pro?
Apple’s other laptop series is the MacBook Pro. As the name suggests, these laptops are designed for professional-level tasks, which means they are much more powerful than the MacBook Air – and they come with higher price tags to boot.
Modern MacBook Pro laptops come in two sizes, 14-inch and 16-inch, and come with Apple’s latest and most powerful chips. Only last month, Apple launched new MacBook Pros with the extremely powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. These are particularly adept at creative tasks such as 3D animation, game development, music production and video editing.
They come with much higher amounts of memory and storage space, and they feature some of the best displays you’ll find in a laptop. All of this means prices can be very high, so if you’re a creative professional looking to invest in a mobile workstation that will blast through tasks with ease for years to come, they are brilliant machines. However, if you don’t need the extremely high level of performance they offer, you’ll be much better off going for a MacBook Air.
Should you buy a MacBook Air?
When it comes to the MacBook Air, the latest model comes with an M3 chip, 16GB of unified memory and 256GB SSD to start. This is available in two sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch. The M3 chip is an excellent all-round performer, and the choice in screen size will depend on what you feel most comfortable working on, with the smaller model offering more portability.
Apple also continues to officially sell the MacBook Air with M2 chip, again in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes. This older model is cheaper than the M3 version, and while the hardware isn’t quite as cutting edge, the M2 remains an excellent performer for day-to-day tasks. It also features the same design and screen as the newer model, so you’re not making too many compromises if you want the cheapest MacBook out there.
Apple has also made a tweak to the base models of both the M2 and M3 versions, and they now come with 16GB of unified memory rather than 8GB – so you get a hefty upgrade for the same price.
Some retailers may still sell the 8GB models, and as they try to clear stock we’ve seen some big price cuts for these versions. I’d still recommend getting the 16GB model if your budget stretches to it, as those models will be more future-proof. But for the absolute lowest price for a MacBook Air, the 8GB model could be a real winner during Black Friday.
In the UK, the same model gets a £150 price cut. Not quite as good as the offer our US cousins get, but you’re again getting a gorgeous thin and light laptop with plenty of memory and powerful M3 chip at a price that puts a lot of Windows laptops to shame.
MacBook Air 13-inch (M3): was £999 now £849
In my opinion, the best deal right now for a MacBook Air is this one from Amazon:
MacBook Air 13-inch (M3): was $1,099 now $844
Why is this so good? For a start, that big price cut gets it below $900, making an already fantastic-value MacBook even better value.
This deal is also for the new model of the MacBook Air – so you get the M3 chip, currently the most powerful chip in a MacBook Air, as well as 16GB of unified memory. This means it’s an excellent buy for students or people looking for a thin and light MacBook that will last for years.
The MacBook Air M1 is a few years old by this point, but it is still a powerhouse of a laptop, especially for one as light and portable as it is (and quiet too, thanks to its fanless cooling).
Powered by first-generation Apple Silicon (the Apple M1 chip), this laptop absolutely changed the game when it came to laptop performance and longevity, with some of the best battery life you’re going to find anywhere on the market.
This configuration, available now at Walmart, features the 8-core version of the Apple M1 chip, 8GB unified memory, a 256GB PCIe SSD, and a 13.3-inch Retina display. The Rose Gold colorway is sold out, but you can still get it in Silver and Space Gray, all for the lowest price I’ve ever seen for an M1 MacBook Air.
Apple MacBook Air M1: was $699 now $599 at Walmart
Then there are MacBooks. These laptops are made by Apple and run the macOS operating system. While macOS does things a bit differently from Windows 11, you shouldn’t worry if you’re making the leap, as you’ll soon get accustomed to its user interface – and pretty much any program you use in Windows 11 will have a macOS version – even Microsoft products like Microsoft Office.
Currently, there are two main types of MacBook – the thin, light and affordable MacBook Air, and the much more powerful (and expensive) MacBook Pro. However, each of these actually come in various sizes and specifications.
UK browsers can enjoy a nice discount on that Acer Chromebook Spin 714 too – not quite as large a reduction as seen over in the US, but still a very respectable £150 off at Currys – and this model packs a larger 512GB SSD, too, letting you download and store more apps and files locally.
Anyone who wants to use ChromeOS but doesn’t want to compromise at all on the feature set and build quality of their laptop should definitely give this one a look. With a 1200p touchscreen, strong port selection, and a smart stylus that quick-charges when slotted back inside the chassis, this is the perfect Chromebook for the busy professional on the go.
Acer Chromebook Spin 714: was £799 now £649 at Currys
For anyone looking for a more premium Chromebook, the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is an excellent choice right now – almost a third off at Amazon. This Chromebook features a 12th-gen Intel Core i5 processor, Full HD touchscreen, and 360-degree hinge for swapping into tablet mode (with a garaged stylus too!) for a more versatile laptop experience.
I’d call the $749.99 entry price for this Acer Chromebook a bit steep – given that Chromebooks are meant to be affordable alternatives to Windows laptops – but cut down to $529 for Black Friday, it’s an absolute bargain. You’re getting a clean and premium design with fast performance for almost a third off the retail price, and I love to see it.
Acer Chromebook Spin 714: was $749.99 now $529 at Amazon
Chromebook hunters over in the UK will also be able to take advantage of some hearty Black Friday discounts – like this HP Chromebook Plus 15, which is down to £279 (a saving of £170) at Currys right now.
‘Plus’ Chromebooks are usually a bit pricier, but also adhere to a strict set of requirements laid down by Google to provide the best possible ChromeOS laptop experience. These include a certain level of processing power – delivered here by the Intel Core i3 chip – as well as minimum requirements for the RAM and storage capacity plus a mandatory Full HD webcam. All these features combined inside HP’s unassuming Chromebook chassis make for a solid productivity laptop for any office worker or student.
HP Chromebook Plus 15: was £449 now £279 at Currys
Over in the Chromebook department, there are some super-cheap ChromeOS laptops available right now thanks to Black Friday sales at a range of retailers.
First up is this HP Chromebook 15, which is cheaper than half-price at Best Buy right now thanks to a hefty $220 reduction – an excellent deal for a laptop that was already pretty good value for money.
Equipped with an Intel N200 CPU and 8GB of RAM, it’s not going to run all the latest games and dazzle you with its graphical performance, but if you’re looking for a straightforward workhorse laptop for everyday tasks like answering emails and browsing the web, this is a solid pick. Thanks to the low hardware requirements of ChromeOS, you should have a smooth experience.
HP Chromebook 15: was $399 now $179 at Best Buy
Next, there are Chromebooks. These are usually much cheaper than Windows 11 laptops, and also boast impressively long battery lives, making them ideal for students in particular.
Chromebooks run Chrome OS, rather than Windows 11, which is a lightweight operating system based on Google’s Chrome browser. Chrome OS has evolved over the years, and there are lots of apps available for all kinds of tasks.
When I say Chrome OS is lightweight, what I mean by that is that it is designed for efficiency over power and features. This allows it to run on less powerful hardware than other operating systems which is why Chromebooks are often a lot cheaper than other laptops, and why their batteries last longer. The downside is that this does mean Chromebooks don’t come with all the features you’d expect from traditional laptops, and many apps that you can use in Windows 11 or macOS don’t work in Chrome OS – though there are usually alternatives. We’ve got a dedicated guide to the best Black Friday Chromebook deals if you feel these are the best type of laptop for your needs.
If you’re in the UK, then Dell has the excellent Inspiron 16 laptop for sale with a big £170 discount. This gets you an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage, plus a lovely large 16-inch screen to work on.
