Radar Tires unveils new products during “Mission: African Terrain” event
Radar Tires recently held a dealer event titled “Mission: African Terrain,” in Krugersdorp, South Africa, where the company unveiled new products and initiatives for the South African market. The event featured the launch of the Renegade AT Sport all-terrain tire, and the announcement of Project SafeDrive, which Radar said includes run-flat sizes and a bulletproof tire range. The event attracted over 150 attendees, including dealers from South Africa and Zimbabwe.
According to Radar, the Project SafeDrive initiative focuses on developing a range of extended mobility tires, including run-flat and bulletproof technologies, designed to provide protection in both every day and high-risk situations.
Radar said it is introducing run-flat technology in seven sizes under its Dimax Sport and Dimax Sprint ranges for CUV drivers in South Africa. The brand said it aims to make these tires available at the same price as regular tires. The bulletproof tire range is currently under development and undergoing ballistics testing, Radar said. This range will be introduced under the Renegade series of light truck and 4×4 tires, branded as Renegade Ultra.
The seven run-flat sizes are expected to be available in South Africa by the end of 2024, while the Renegade Ultra range will be available by Q1 of 2025, according to Radar.
The Renegade AT Sport is Radar’s newest all-terrain range. According to the manufacturer, the Renegade AT Sport has been tested and engineered to offer South African drivers off-road performance while providing a quiet on-road ride. The Renegade AT Sport is currently available in 14 sizes and was launched to the South African dealers at the event. According to Radar, the Renegade AT Sport features include:
- Ultra-shield system: A combination of stone ejectors, serrations on the bottom tread, and tie bars to enhance durability, increase puncture resistance, and provide casing protection, according to Radar.
- Gravel-trac technology: Radar said this tire range features an interlocking tread block design with reverse radius on shoulder blocks for all-terrain performance on gravel roads and traction on sand and mud.
- Enduramax compound: A silica-based compound that provides cut and chip resistance and grip in all conditions, Radar said.
- Snake-bite tread block design: Radar said the tire’s snake head-shaped tread blocks create torsional strength in all directions and protect the aggressive shoulder block. The wide circumferential center block design provides increased stability and handling performance, according to Radar.
“South Africa represents a key market for Radar Tires, and we are proud to showcase our Radar premium collection — a range of tires that rivals the performance of leading brands but comes at a much more accessible price point,” said G.S. Sareen, president and CEO of Omni United. “The objective of Mission African Terrain is not just about showcasing products; it’s about forging strong connections with retailers and demonstrating the essence of our brand, which has always been rooted in giving back to the community. Project SafeDrive is an example of this commitment. This initiative isn’t just about tires; it’s about empowering the community, providing peace of mind, and reinforcing our dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of South African drivers.”
